Donatus Red 2011 awarded Mundus Vini Gold
Rich, elegant, complex and balanced: These are all words used to describe Dornier Donatus Red 2011. The 2011 vintage consists of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Petit Verdot, 17% Malbec and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine has an intense, fruity nose with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, mulberry, blackberry and hints of sweet tobacco. On the palate you’ll find sweet fruits, a balanced acidity and a fine tannin structure which will allow for considerable bottle aging.
The wine is pampered and handled with utmost skill and care from vine to bottle and the proof is in the tasting. Grapes are hand-picked by from selected vines and brought to the cellar where the berries are sorted to ensure that only the best fruit goes into this wine. After barrel-fermentation, each component spends a further eighteen months maturing in French oak barrels, a third of which is new. The wine is blended after maturation so allowing for the selection of the finest components for the final blend.
Dornier is proud to announce that Donatus Red 2011 recently received a Gold medal at the 2014 Mundus Vini Wine Awards held annually in Germany.
